User Reviews Add Review... 02/09/2014 An Interested Visitor Writes: I took in an elderly family member into my home. Companions and Homemakers assigned a woman to come to my home to help take care of her while I worked. This woman stole personal items, money, jewels, clothing etc. I had worked with this agency for many years, I was assured their staff was insured and bonded so I felt safe, I felt my belonging were protected and I did not need to be home all the time to watch them and could safely work...boy was I wrong! Companions and Homemakers is claiming that because the caregiver was not arrested (police said there was not 100% proof it was her because there were some other caregivers in the home at times when the primary one was out) and the "client" they were taking care of was not me, I was not going to get restitution for my property. It did not matter that some of the things were in "public space" in the home but also in areas like my garage, my bedroom, office, my pocketbook etc. I opened my heart and my home to this woman...to save us all the cost of institutionalizing her which is much more expensive but the kind thing to do. It is inexcusable that this company will not replace the items stolen, or at least offer restitution for those items. The company indicates that you are safe, because their staff is insured and bonded...but then they won't do the right thing when someone is a victim of a crime and replace or pay for those items taken. When confronted by me about this, the attitude and lack of cooperation was devastating. All of a sudden I was a horrible person and they treated me so rudely and without any concern that I lost everything I held dear to my heart and eventually stopped taking care of my family because of this whole situation. heather stimson 4 months ago Liked 2 Please help me and anyone else who is/has/will take care of an elderly person. It's wrong that this agency won't replace loss from theft by one of their employees even though they are insured and bonded. This is wrong! They have been openly hostile and uncooperative is a kind way of putting it. Over 10 months of fighting them now....I keep hearing story after story....you trust these people to come into your home to help....and help they do....help themselves to what ever they want....its not right!
